Global Soybean Production Estimated to Reach 442 Million Tonnes

Brasília. In the Latin American nation of Brazil, soybean production is surging rapidly, reaching new record levels, as farmers are reaping excellent returns from the crop. Furthermore, soybean yields are showing improvement in other countries—including the United States, Argentina, and China—while production in India is also expected to be robust in the upcoming season.

In light of these developments, the International Grains Council (IGC) has projected that total global soybean production for the 2026-27 marketing season will rise by 3 percent compared to the 2025-26 season, reaching a new record high of 442 million tonnes. Soybean sowing has already commenced in the United States, whereas in Brazil and Argentina, planting is scheduled to begin in September and October.

The IGC has also estimated that global soybean consumption will increase, reaching a level of 445 million tonnes. This is expected to exert pressure on global carryover stocks, which could consequently decline to 76 million tonnes. Global soybean trade is projected to reach 190 million tonnes, with China expected to account for approximately 50 percent of these imports.
