Government Procurement of 2.13 Lakh Tonnes of Millets in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow. Due to low open market prices, farmers in Uttar Pradesh are showing increased interest in selling their millet stock at government procurement centers. It is being procured at the minimum support price.

According to official data, a total of 2.13 lakh tons of millets were procured from farmers during the current Kharif marketing season 2025-26, including 43,652 tons of sorghum and 12,208 tons of maize. The procurement process is completely transparent and convenient, ensuring farmers are not facing any difficulties in selling their produce.

In Uttar Pradesh, millets were procured in 33 districts, sorghum in 11 districts, and maize in 25 districts. The minimum support price (MSP) for Maldandi sorghum is Rs. 3749 per quintal, hybrid sorghum is Rs. 3099 per quintal, millets is Rs. 2775 per quintal, and maize is Rs. 2400 per quintal.

A total of 90,513 farmers across Uttar Pradesh had registered themselves to sell their produce, out of which 54,253 farmers have sold their produce and an amount of Rs 598 crore has been paid to the farmers so far.
