Mumbai. Indian firm Bagadia Brothers Pvt Ltd has secured four tenders to export rice to Bangladesh, totaling 2 lakh tonnes of non-Basmati Sela rice.

The company, known for its past shipments to Bangladesh and strong reputation, won the tenders through a competitive bidding process by offering the most attractive prices.

The export prices quoted for the tenders were $456.67, $458.84, $434.55, and $424.77 per tonne respectively, including shipment and other charges.

This import will support Bangladesh in boosting domestic rice supply and controlling rising prices.

Despite being a major rice producer, Bangladesh often imports rice due to high domestic consumption and occasional crop failures caused by adverse weather.

India, as the world's largest rice exporter and a close neighbor with strong transport connectivity, remains a key supplier to Bangladesh.
