New Delhi. A leading company engaged in export of Indian Basmati rice has succeeded in getting four big export orders of premium quality rice worth Rs 63 crore from a Singapore firm.
Under this, shipment of premium quality Sela Basmati rice is to be done. This big success clearly proves the excellent competitive ability of the company and the high quality of Indian Basmati rice in the international market. There is a good demand for Basmati rice in other countries as well.
It is worth mentioning that the US government had tried to hurt Indian rice exporters by imposing a high tariff of 50 percent, but India seems to be gradually succeeding in recovering from this crisis. Indian exporters are getting success in finding new alternative markets. It is believed that in the coming time some other non-traditional buyer countries may show interest in importing Indian Basmati rice.
It is worth noting that the Singapore firm which has signed an agreement with the Indian company for import of Basmati rice is itself a global supply chain management establishment which is engaged in storage, processing and transportation of agricultural products.
This firm uses ultra-modern technology to deliver high quality products to buyers at the international level. This business partnership with the Indian company will help in increasing the demand for Basmati rice in the global market.
According to critics, this export contract is a meaningful or positive sign for the Indian Basmati rice industry. Export of premium quality Indian rice to South-East Asia is low and Indian exporters may now find it easier to reach new markets there.
