India’s Kabuli Chana Production and Exports Rise, Stocks Decline
★ According to the latest data from IGrain India, Kabuli chana production in India is projected to rise to 5.20 lakh tonnes in 2024–25, up from 4.75 lakh tonnes in 2023–24. This nearly 9.5% increase reflects the growing export demand.
★ During the same period, exports of Kabuli chana have surged sharply—from 1.00 lakh tonnes in 2023–24 to 1.31 lakh tonnes in 2024–25, marking a steep 31% jump.
★ Despite this rise in both production and exports, the ending stock is estimated to decline slightly to 0.09 lakh tonnes, compared to 0.10 lakh tonnes last year.
★ India's Kabuli chana sector remains strong in both output and overseas shipments, but rising global demand is exerting mild pressure on domestic stock levels.
★ Continued export interest is providing consistent support to prices.
