Jakarta. Data from Oil World, a world-renowned oilseeds-oil newsletter published from Hamburg, Germany, shows that the total export of palm oil products from Indonesia in July 2025 jumped 69 percent from 17.70 lakh tonnes in July 2024 to 29.90 lakh tonnes, but still the shipment of June 2025 was 50 thousand tonnes less than 30.40 lakh tonnes.

During July 2025, Indonesia exported the highest 6.55 lakh tonnes of palm oil products to India, which included shipment of 6.21 lakh tonnes of crude palm oil.

Apart from this, 3.88 lakh tonnes of palm oil was exported to China, 3.61 lakh tonnes to Pakistan and 1.94 lakh tonnes to the European Union.

It is noteworthy that Indonesia is the largest producer and exporter of palm oil in the world. According to the report of Indonesia's Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), a total of 136.90 lakh tonnes of palm oil was exported from the country during the first seven months of the current year i.e.

January-July 2025, which was 10.95 percent more than the shipment of the same period of the year 2024. This year there was a fluctuation in exports.

In India, there was a sharp decline in palm oil imports in the four months of January-April 2025, due to which shipments from Indonesia and Malaysia remained weak.

But palm oil imports started increasing in India from May and its quantity increased rapidly in June-July. In August, industry-trade analysts have estimated the import of 9.93 lakh tonnes of palm oil in India,

in which the share of Indonesian oil is likely to be more than 60 percent. Palm oil is exported in large quantities from Indonesia to India, China, Pakistan and the European Union as well as many other countries.
