Jakarta: Indonesia’s palm oil production and domestic use declined in January 2025 compared to December 2024, according to data from the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI).

Production fell by 53,000 tonnes to 41.84 lakh tonnes, while domestic consumption dropped by 3.16 lakh tonnes to 18.71 lakh tonnes, mainly due to reduced use in biodiesel and special-purpose segments.

Despite steady exports, outstanding stocks rose by 3.60 lakh tonnes to 29.36 lakh tonnes. Exports of crude palm oil declined from 69,000 tonnes to 39,000 tonnes, and refined palm oil exports also fell marginally. The Indonesian government continues to promote refined palm oil exports over crude.

Exports to key markets like India and China also saw a decline during the period.
