International Corn Market
The market will remain closed on Monday due to the Labor Day holiday, while it will reopen normally on Monday night for the Tuesday session.
USDA Export Sales data for the week ending August 21 showed net reductions of 17,797 MT, which was better than last week and within the estimate range of reductions of 200,000 MT to 150,000 MT. This is not unusual for this late in the marketing year.
New crop sales totaled 2.089 MMT for the week, on the higher side of trade ideas of 1.2 to 2.6 MMT. That was down 26.9% from last week but still the third-largest total for the marketing year. Mexico was the top buyer at 620,700 MT, while 515,200 MT were sold to unknown destinations and 257,000 MT to Colombia.
According to Statistics Canada, Canada’s corn production is estimated at 15.55 MMT, up 1.5% from last year.
