ICE cotton futures closed lower on Tuesday, down by 44 to 56 points. Crude oil futures fell by $2.48 per barrel, marking the lowest closing price in four years and the lowest since April 2021. The U.S. dollar index also declined by $0.247 during the day.
An additional 50% tariff on China will go into effect tomorrow, April 9, raising the total tariff on all Chinese goods to 104%.
On April 7, only 539 cash bales were sold on "The Seam" at an average price of 63.34 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index dropped by 145 points on Monday, settling at 75.25 cents per pound. ICE cotton stocks remained unchanged on April 7, with the current level at 14,488 bales.
The USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) increased by 158 points last week, reaching 55.22 cents per pound.
