International Cotton Market
Buying in ICE cotton futures continued through the close, with contracts gaining between 72 and 108 points.
Crude oil futures also posted strong gains, ending the day up by $3.14 per barrel, recovering after touching the lowest levels since February 2021 overnight. The U.S. dollar index remained steady throughout the day.
At the end of Wednesday’s session, President Trump announced a 90-day tariff pause for targeted countries, though China was not included in the exemption. A blanket 10% tariff remains in place for all countries, while tariffs on all imports from China have been raised to 125%.
The Cotlook A Index rose by 270 points on Tuesday to reach 77.95 cents per pound.
Cotton stocks on ICE remained unchanged as of April 8, with certified stocks standing at 14,488 bales.
The USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) increased by 158 points last week, reaching 55.22 cents per pound.
