Speculative traders in soybean futures and options took a more bearish stance during the week ending July 15. They added 26,062 contracts to their net short position, bringing the total to 32,278 contracts. In soybean meal, managed money added 1,537 contracts to their record net short position, now at 133,016 contracts.
Total export commitments for soybeans now stand at 50.648 million metric tons, reaching 100% of the USDA’s full marketing year projection, though slightly behind the 102% five-year average pace.
