As of Sunday, 8% of the U.S. soybean crop had been planted, ahead of the 5-year average of 5%.
According to the CFTC Commitment of Traders report, as of April 15, speculators held a net long position of 26,169 contracts in soybean futures and options — a shift of 76,616 contracts from the previous net short position, indicating strong speculative buying interest.
