International Soybean Market
According to weekly export inspection data, 194,904 metric tons (7.16 million bushels) of soybeans were shipped in the week ending May 22. This is a 12.6% decrease from the previous week and 13.5% lower than the same week last year. Egypt was the top destination with 53,244 metric tons, followed by Mexico with 51,539 metric tons. Total shipments for the marketing year so far have reached 44.34 million metric tons (1.629 billion bushels), which is 11% more than the same period last year.
According to crop progress data released this afternoon, 76% of the soybean crop had been planted as of Sunday, ahead of the 5-year average of 68%, though slightly behind the trade estimate of 77%. 50% of the crop had emerged, compared to the average of 40%. Crop condition ratings will be released next Monday.
Following threats on Friday to impose a 50% tariff on EU goods starting June 1, President Trump spoke over the weekend with the EU President. As a result, the potential tariff deadline has been extended to July 9 to allow time for further negotiations.
