According to CFTC data, speculative traders in CBT wheat futures and options added 4,893 contracts to their net short position in Chicago wheat, increasing it to 60,487 contracts. They also increased their net short position in KC wheat by 4,683 contracts during the week ending July 7, bringing it to 48,002 contracts.
According to USDA, total export commitments so far this marketing year are at 8.259 million metric tons, which is 36% of the USDA’s export forecast and slightly ahead of the 35% average pace.
FranceAgriMer estimates that 69% of the French wheat crop is in good to excellent condition, up 1 point from the previous week. Harvest progress has reached 71%, compared to just 36% a week ago.
