According to USDA’s Crop Progress data, the US winter wheat harvest is 90% complete, close to the normal pace of 91%. The spring wheat harvest is 16% complete, behind the 22% average. Conditions were reported at 49% good/excellent, up 1%, though higher very poor ratings pulled the Brugler500 index down 1 point to 331.
Export Inspections data showed 365,486 MT (13.43 million bushels) of wheat shipped during the week ending August 7, down 47.01% from the prior week and 45.37% below the same week last year. Mexico was the top destination with 80,401 MT, followed by Vietnam with 68,034 MT and Nigeria with 49,658 MT. Since June 1, marketing year shipments have totaled 4.367 MMT (160.45 million bushels), 2.37% above last year.
Analysts estimate the upcoming Tuesday Crop Production report will show total US wheat production at 1.922 billion bushels, down 7 million from last month. New-crop stocks are projected 8 million bushels lower at 882 million.
