The USDA released export sales data, reporting wheat sales of 107,280 metric tons (MT). Although this was lower than the previous week, it still marked the second-largest sale in the past four weeks.
Sales included 92,800 MT to unknown destinations and 40,000 MT to Nigeria.
For the new crop, sales totaled 107,728 MT, also ranking as the second-largest sale of the current marketing year.
Japan purchased 64,200 MT, and 22,500 MT were sold to Mexico.
U.S. ending stocks of wheat were raised by 27 million bushels (mbu) to 846 mbu this morning, which was significantly higher than expected.
This change was due to:
A 10 mbu increase in imports,
A 15 mbu cut in exports, and
A 2 mbu reduction in seed use.
Globally, wheat ending stocks increased by 0.62 million metric tons (MMT) to 260.70 MMT.
The EU Commission raised its EU wheat production estimate by 0.6 MMT, bringing it to 128.1 MMT.
