Kharif Sowing Crosses 153.10 Lakh Hectares in Rajasthan

Jaipur. With the help of strong monsoon rains in Rajasthan, an important agricultural producing state of western India, this time the total production area of ​​Kharif crops increased to 153.10 lakh hectares by 4 August 2025,

which is about 6 lakh hectares more than the sowing area of ​​147.12 lakh hectares in the same period last year. Monsoon became active in Rajasthan in the last week of June this year, which gave farmers the opportunity to start sowing crops early.

According to the report of the State Agriculture Department, during the current Kharif season, compared to last year, the total production area of ​​Najji crops in Rajasthan jumped from 60.09 lakh hectares to 61.85 lakh hectares.

Under this, the production area of paddy increased from 2.75 lakh hectare to 3.41 lakh hectare, area of sorghum improved from 6.39 lakh hectare to 6.53 lakh hectare, sowing area of millet jumped from 41.41 lakh hectare to 42.10 lakh hectare and area of maize increased from 9.55 lakh hectare to 9.78 lakh hectare.

The production area of pulses crops in Rajasthan also jumped from 33.07 lakh hectare to 36.06 lakh hectare. Under this, the production area of moong increased from 26.67 lakh hectare to 23.24 lakh hectare,

sowing area of moth increased from 7.94 lakh hectare to 8.98 lakh hectare, area of black gram improved from 2.97 lakh hectare to 3.12 lakh hectare, area of chola increased from 46 thousand hectare to 58 thousand hectare and area of tuvar jumped from 3 thousand hectare to 14 thousand hectare.

The sowing area of oilseed crops also improved from 21.61 lakh hectares last year to 21.93 lakh hectares this time. Under this,

the production of groundnut jumped from 8.47 lakh hectares to 9.68 lakh hectares, area of sesame improved from 1.83 lakh hectares to 1.85 lakh hectares and area of castor increased from 52 thousand hectares to 63 thousand hectares, but the production area of soybean decreased from 10.79 lakh hectares to 9.77 lakh hectares.

Apart from this, the production area of guar in Rajasthan improved from 23.40 lakh hectares last year to 23.45 lakh hectares this time and the sowing area of cotton increased from 5.12 lakh hectares to 6.29 lakh hectares. The area of sugarcane is lagging behind.
