Kochi. Small cardamom prices are expected to remain high and firm in the coming months due to various factors. The new marketing season for 2026-27 commenced on August 1st. Carry-over stocks from the previous season are reported to be quite low, while marketable production in both India and Guatemala is projected to decline this time. Weather conditions remain uncertain, yet domestic and global demand for cardamom is expected to stay strong.

It will be crucial to monitor the volume and quality of small (green) cardamom production and the quantity reaching the market; if signs of declining production and rising prices emerge, producers may attempt to withhold stocks.

The average price of green cardamom at auction centers is currently hovering above ₹3,000 per kg. In the auction held on July 30th, the average price reached ₹3,230.32 per kg, with the highest price touching ₹7,070 per kg. In the auction held the previous day, the average price had also stood high at ₹3,232.61 per kg.

Trade analysts anticipate the average price of cardamom to range between ₹2,900 and ₹3,100 per kg. Good buying support is likely at the ₹2,860 price level, while the next target is estimated at ₹3,600 per kg. Significant trading activity is expected at the lower level of ₹2,580 per kg. Prices are expected to continue receiving strong support going forward.
