due to which sowing of soybean has decreased and the total production area of ​​Kharif crops also remained 1 percent behind last year. Sowing of Kharif crops in the state has almost ended.

It is worth mentioning that during the current monsoon season, Madhya Pradesh has received 23 percent more rainfall than the normal average. Due to the floods in many areas till the surplus rain in July, farmers could not get the opportunity to sow crops on time in many areas.

This time in Madhya Pradesh, the area of ​​soybean, cotton, sorghum and millet could not reach the five-year average area and compared to last year, it also declined by 5 to 17 percent.

According to the critics, except paddy and maize, the yield rate of most of the other crops in Madhya Pradesh is likely to decrease this time.

According to official figures, this time till 5th September, the total production area of ​​Kharif crops in Madhya Pradesh could reach only 139.87 lakh hectares, which was 141.32 lakh hectares in the same period last year.

Its normal average area has been estimated to be 136 lakh hectares, out of which about 75 percent contribution is of soybean, paddy and maize.

Compared to last year, this time the sowing area of ​​soybean in Madhya Pradesh decreased by 5 percent to 51.20 lakh hectares and the production area of ​​paddy slipped from 36.33 lakh hectares to 36.20 lakh hectares.

On the other hand, the area of ​​maize increased by 13 percent to 23.50 lakh hectares and the area of ​​black gram jumped by 40.3 percent to 5.95 lakh hectares.

In oilseed crops, groundnut production area fell by 37 percent to 4.03 lakh hectares and sesame sowing area fell by 31 percent to 2.27 lakh hectares,

but the area of ​​Niger seed jumped from 19 thousand hectares to 32 thousand hectares. The area of ​​pigeon pea increased by 12 percent to 3.36 lakh hectares, but the area of ​​green gram fell by 22 percent to 95 thousand hectares.
