Maharashtra: Tuar procurement deadline extended
★ The deadline for Tuar (pigeon pea) procurement in Maharashtra, which had ended on May 13, has now been extended to May 28, 2025.
★ So far, 1,37,458 farmers have registered online for selling their produce and tuar has already been procured from 69,189 farmers, totaling 1,02,951 metric tonnes as of May 13.
★ For the 2024–25 season, the central government approved the procurement of 2,97,430 metric tonnes of tur from Maharashtra.
★ Since the current market prices are below the Minimum Support Price (MSP), farmers are preferring to sell their produce to government agencies for better returns.
