★ Kharif 2024: 88.5, Kharif 2023: 84.65 and Kharif Normal area: 76.96
★ Due to higher market prices, the sowing area in Kharif 2024 has increased compared to both last year and the normal average.

★ Kharif 2024-25 (Last Year): Estimated production at 248 lakh tons

2025-26 Outlook:
★ IGrain India estimates that maize sowing in Kharif 2025 could reach a maximum of 92 lakh hectares.
★ However, it is still too early to make firm production projections, as the final outcome will depend on monsoon performance and crop conditions.

★ Key Producing States: Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka
★ In these states, some farmers are shifting towards maize and sugarcane due to more attractive price expectations.
