Makhana prices rise due to impact on exports

New Delhi. Makhana prices have been rising for the past one week, the market sentiment is still strong. Sources say that although there are reports of two-and-a-half times more production in the current season compared to last year,
exports are being affected due to ongoing rains in the major producer state of Bihar, apart from this, festive demand in the market has also started increasing gradually.
Due to which, Makhana prices have risen by Rs 40/50 per kg in the last 8/10 days. Traders say that if the weather does not become sunny soon, then prices may rise by Rs 50/70 per kg soon.
Because in the month of September, the demand for Dussehra and Diwali festivals will be good in the market. Currently, the price of Rajbhog Makhana in Delhi market has increased to Rs 1000/1010 per kg.
It is noteworthy that Makhana is produced in Darbhanga, Purnia, Gulabbag, Harishchandrapur line of Bihar. Currently, due to rain, the drainage from the ponds is getting affected.
Sources say that the availability of Guria in the ponds is more than last year. But due to lack of last year's stock, the pipeline is empty.
Due to which the trade is estimating that the prices will remain high during the month of September. But after the season opens, the supply of Makhana will definitely increase. Due to which there is a possibility of a fall in prices during the month of October.
