Minor Fluctuations in Foodgrain and Sugar Prices; Retail Rice and Wheat Become Cheaper: Ministry of Consumer Affairs
As per the All-India average retail and wholesale price report released on 18 April 2025, rice and wheat prices have declined compared to the previous month and year.
Retail rice price stood at ₹42.06/kg, down 2.28% from last month and 4.82% from last year. Wheat was ₹31.84/kg, down 2.15% from a month ago, but 3.75% higher year-on-year. Atta (wheat flour) fell slightly to ₹37.60/kg, while sugar rose marginally to ₹45.71/kg, showing a yearly increase of 3.02%.
In wholesale markets, rice was priced at ₹3772.04/qtl, wheat at ₹2846.3/qtl, atta at ₹3340.14/qtl, and sugar at ₹4247.92/qtl. Wheat and atta showed notable year-on-year increases of 4.96% and 6.21%, respectively.
