Monsoon 2025 Update (as of September 3)
★ A strong low-pressure area has formed over the northwestern Bay of Bengal near the Odisha coast. Moving west and northwest, it is expected to bring rainfall to Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh in the next 24 hours.
★ The monsoon trough currently extends from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha up to the Bay of Bengal, supporting rainfall in these regions.
★ Local showers and cloud cover are likely over Haryana and adjoining areas.
★ Another cyclonic circulation over Vidarbha (Maharashtra) is expected to bring rain to central India.
★ A western disturbance is active over north Pakistan and adjoining Punjab, which will influence rainfall in north India.
★ The trough line stretching from Kashmir to Madhya Pradesh has weakened, reducing its effectiveness in causing rain.
★ Nationwide, India recorded 780.8 mm of rainfall up to September 3, which is 8% above the normal level of 721.1 mm.
