Monsoon likely to withdraw from September 17: IMD
★ The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that after delivering above-normal rainfall across the country this year, the southwest monsoon is now moving towards withdrawal.
★ The withdrawal is likely to begin from northwest India around September 17.
★ Between June 1 and September 11, the country received 8 per cent above-normal rainfall.
★ Northwest India recorded 34 per cent excess rainfall, Central India 11 per cent above normal, and south peninsular India around 7 per cent above normal.
★ Only east and northeast India recorded deficient rainfall, at 20 per cent below normal.
