News Capsule: Bangladesh: Government Approves Purchase of 15,000 Metric Tonnes of Sugar
★ A government committee in Bangladesh on Tuesday approved the purchase of approximately 130,000 metric tonnes of fertiliser and 15,000 metric tonnes of sugar to meet the growing domestic demand.
★ The decision was made during a virtual meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP).
★ Based on a proposal from the Ministry of Commerce, the government will procure 15,000 metric tonnes of white sugar from the Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) using the local Direct Procurement Method (DPM). The purchase will cost around Tk 173.37 crore, with a fixed price of Tk 115.58 per kilogram of sugar.
