News Capsule: Telangana crosses 1 million tonnes paddy procurement; rabi target set at 90 lakh tonnes
★ The state government has set a target to procure 90 lakh tonnes of paddy in the current rabi season.
★ So far, the procurement includes around 4.5 lakh tonnes of fine variety paddy, while the remaining quantity is coarse variety.
★ Paddy has been cultivated over 22.25 lakh hectares in the state, with total production estimated at 152 lakh tonnes- likely to be a record.
★ The government has set a procurement target of 30 lakh tonnes of fine variety paddy and 60 lakh tonnes of coarse (parboiled) paddy.
