News Capsule: Unseasonal Rain Damages 2.49 Lakh Hectares of Rabi Crops
★ Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said unseasonal rains and hailstorms have damaged 2.49 lakh hectares of rabi crops so far, with wheat suffering the biggest losses.
★ Horticulture crops such as mango and litchi have also been hit, while assessment is still underway.
★ The IMD has forecast more rain between April 9–15 due to western disturbances and cyclonic systems.
★ The government has assured support to farmers and increased nutrient subsidy for kharif fertilisers to ₹41,534 crore to ensure adequate supply.
