News Capsule: Uttar Pradesh Government Procurement
★ Procurement of gram (chana), lentil (masoor), and mustard (sarson) in the state will begin from 7 April, while farmer registration is currently ongoing.
★ For the current season, the state government has set procurement targets of 2.24 lakh tonnes for gram, 6.77 lakh tonnes for lentil, and 5.3 lakh tonnes for mustard.
★ More than 190 procurement centers have been established across the state.
★ Procurement of gram, lentil, and mustard is already underway in several other states.
★ As mustard prices are trading above the MSP, government procurement is expected to remain limited, whereas gram procurement is likely to be significantly higher.
