Nigella Seed Demand Likely to Strengthen Soon

New Delhi: The demand for Nigella seeds (Kalonji), widely used in mango pickles, is already firm and expected to strengthen further with the peak consumption season (May–August) approaching.
New crop arrivals have begun in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, while overall domestic production is estimated to be lower than last year.
With low carryover stocks and steady demand, prices have already risen. In Delhi, rates are up by Rs 3000/quintal compared to early last month, while new crop in Rajasthan started at Rs 17,000/quintal and shows signs of further increase.
Market analysts expect prices could rise by Rs 20–25/kg in the coming months, with any correction likely only after peaking.
