No possibility of recession in Isabgol

New Delhi. There has been a slowdown in the prices of Isabgol for some time. But there is no possibility of recession in the current prices because the arrival at the mandis of the producing centers has remained limited. Also, at present the prices are also running 30/35 rupees per kg lower than last year.

In Rajasthan, the major producing state of Isabgol, the price of Isabgol is currently being quoted at Rs 100/115 per kg in Naukha, Nagaur, Merta Mandi. Whereas in Unjha Mandi of Gujarat, the prices are running at Rs 100/120 per kg. It is noteworthy that during July 2024, the price of Isabgol was running at Rs 140/150 per kg in the mandis of producing centers, while in July 2023 the record prices were made of Rs 260/270. Rajasthan's contribution in the total production of Isabgol in the country is 70/75 percent. While Gujarat's share is 20/25 percent. The new crop of Isabgol starts in March-April.

Arrival

Currently, the arrival of Isabgol in Gujarat's Unjha market is 2000/2500 bags, which was 22/25 thousand bags in April. In Naukha, Nagaur, Merta market of Rajasthan, the arrival has also remained at 1500/2000 bags. The arrival during the season was 10/12 thousand bags.

Low production

During the current season, the production of Isabgol in the country has been less than last year. But due to good outstanding stock of last year, there was a slowdown in the prices. It is worth mentioning that last year the production of Isabgol in the country was 38/40 lakh bags, which was considered a record production. During the current season, the production is estimated to be 28/30 lakh bags (each bag is 70/75 kg). The outstanding stock at the time of new crop was also believed to be 7/8 lakh bags.

No recession

Knowledgeable traders say that there is no possibility of recession in the current prices of Isabgol. Because the prices have come down a lot, besides this, the arrival in the markets has also remained low. Sources believe that during the months of July and August, the prices of Isabgol are expected to increase by 10/15 rupees per kg. Currently, the prices of Isabgol are being quoted at 100/115 rupees per kg. Because in the coming days, it is believed that it will increase to 110/130 rupees.
