Oilmeal Export Price Review: Source: SEA | March 2025
★ In March 2025, the average price of soybean meal stood at $356 per ton, reflecting a decline compared to $370 in February and $385 in January.
★ Rapeseed meal prices also witnessed a steep drop, closing at $196 per ton in March, down from $248 in February and $270 in January.
★ Castorseed meal averaged $75 per ton in March, compared to $82 in February and $87 in January.
★ During this period, the average USD/INR exchange rate was ₹86.52 per dollar.
★ A continuous downtrend has been observed in oilmeal prices:
- Soybean meal, which was at $489 per ton in July 2024, has fallen to $356 by March 2025.  
- Similarly, rapeseed meal that traded at around $285 in May-June 2024 has now declined to $196.  
- Castorseed meal dropped from $86 in August 2024 to $75 in March 2025.
★ The decline is attributed to sluggish global demand and pressure on exports.  
★ Despite a weaker rupee, India’s competitiveness in the export market has been impacted.  
★ If global demand does not improve, oilmeal prices may remain under pressure in the coming months.
