Jakarta. The export growth of palm oil products from Indonesia, the world's leading producer and exporter of palm oil, has remained in double digits during the current year.

According to the report of the Central Statistics Agency (PS), the income earned from the export of crude palm oil and its various value-added products from Indonesia in the first five months of the current year, i.e. January-May 2025, increased to $8.90 billion, which was 27.89 percent more than the export income of the same period last year.

The export offer price of palm oil products also remained high. In the first five months of 2024, palm oil products worth $6.96 billion were exported from Indonesia.

According to official data, the export of palm oil products from Indonesia increased by only 3.58 percent to close to 33 lakh tonnes in January-May 2025 compared to the same period last year, but due to the high offer price, the export income increased significantly.

The average unit export offer price of Indonesian palm oil products during this period was recorded at $1076.17 per tonne, which was 23.50 percent higher than the average price of $871 per tonne during January-May 2024.

According to official sources, Pakistan, India and China were the three major buyers of Indonesian palm oil during this five-month period.

Indonesia's trade balance became positive due to good purchases by India. Indonesia's non-oil and gas trade with India increased to $5.32 billion in January-May 2025.

India remains the largest importer of Indonesian palm oil, and this position is unlikely to change in the near future. However, by April, there was a sharp decline in India's total import of palm oil due to high prices, which led Indian importers to increase imports of soybean oil and sunflower oil.

But there was a notable increase in palm oil imports in May, and imports are expected to remain nearly normal in June.
