Peanut purchase period in Rajasthan extended till March 10

The extension of the peanut purchase period in Rajasthan until March 10 provides significant relief to peanut farmers in the state, especially as the wholesale market price is currently below the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 6783 per quintal.
The extension was granted after the Rajasthan government requested it from the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
This decision aims to ensure that farmers who were unable to sell their peanuts by the previous deadline of February 15 now have more time to sell their produce at the government-set MSP.
The procurement process will continue at government centers until March 10, with additional efforts being made to facilitate transportation and ensure that all eligible farmers can sell their peanuts without difficulty.
This is especially important as Rajasthan is a leading producer of peanuts, second only to Gujarat. While the national procurement process has already slowed down in most states, the extension in Rajasthan will support peanut producers in getting fair prices for their crops.
Given that the price of peanuts in other states like Uttar Pradesh is below the MSP, this extension offers a crucial opportunity for farmers in Rajasthan to benefit from the government’s MSP scheme
