Rabi Crop Sowing Progress in Rajasthan: 72% Work Completed till November 25
As of November 25, Rajasthan has made significant progress in the sowing of Rabi crops, with 72% of the planned area already completed. A total of 86.52 lakh hectares have been sown, representing an 8.52% increase over last year's area of 79.72 lakh hectares during the same period.
Key highlights include:
Wheat: Sowing has increased to 8.53 lakh hectares, up from 14.40 lakh hectares last year, showing strong growth.
Gram: There is also a notable rise in gram sowing, which has reached 18.53 lakh hectares, compared to 16.42 lakh hectares last year. The target for gram sowing this season is 22.50 lakh hectares.
Barley: Barley sowing has risen to 2.89 lakh hectares, up from 2.26 lakh hectares during the same period in 2023.
However, mustard sowing has seen a decline, with only 31.64 lakh hectares sown so far, compared to 39.7 lakh hectares last year. The target for mustard sowing this year is set at 40.50 lakh hectares, indicating that this crop is falling behind the target.
Additional crops like sesame and linseed have seen minimal sowing, with sesame covering 74,000 hectares and linseed 10,000 hectares.
Overall, while the pace of sowing in Rajasthan is better than last year, the shortfall in mustard sowing remains a concern. Nevertheless, the good progress in wheat, gram, and barley sowing is expected to boost the state's agricultural productivity in the coming season.
