Rise in Soybean Crude Oil Imports, 4.62 Lakh Tons Imported in January 2025
★ India witnessed a significant surge in the import of soybean crude oil (HS Code 15071000) at the beginning of 2025. In January 2025 alone, the country imported 4,62,864.07 metric tons of soybean oil, nearly double the 2,51,044.0 metric tons imported in January 2024.
★ In the full year 2024, India imported a total of 40,82,042.0 metric tons of soybean crude oil. This was up from 34,97,215.9 metric tons in 2023. In 2022, the imports stood at 38,26,878.6 metric tons, while in 2021, it was 31,76,407.6 metric tons.
★ Year-on-year changes:  
2024 vs 2023: Increase of 5,84,826.2 metric tons  
2023 vs 2022: Decrease of 3,29,662.7 metric tons  
2022 vs 2021: Increase of 6,50,471.0 metric tons  
★ In 2024, the highest imports were recorded in September (4,67,267.3 metric tons) and July (4,00,526.7 metric tons), highlighting the strong demand and import momentum during these months.
