Rising Mercury May Impact Wheat Harvest in UP
★ Agricultural experts have warned that if temperatures do not drop below 15 degrees Celsius in the next 10-15 days, wheat production could see a significant decline.
★ For the 2024-2025 Rabi season, Uttar Pradesh has set a wheat production target of 32.25 million tonnes, 4.7% higher than the previous year. Sowing has been carried out over 9.6 million hectares in UP state.
★ UP alone contributes over 25% of India's total wheat production.
★ In several districts of UP, wheat sowing took place after November 25, which is considered significantly late.
★ The future of wheat production depends entirely on the weather.
