Saskatchewan, Canada – Pulse Production Outlook Better Than Expected
★ Saskatchewan has completed 53% of its harvest.
★ Despite variations in yield and quality across regions, this year’s crop grading is not expected to fall much below the average, as was initially feared.
By grade:
★ Peas: 53% No. 2 and 42% No. 1, close to the 10-year average of 51% No. 2 and 42% No. 1.
★ Lentils: 60% No. 2 and 26% No. 1, nearly matching the 10-year average of 51% No. 2 and 31% No. 1.
★ Markets remain cautious about Statistics Canada’s 2025 model-based final production estimates and expect revisions in the survey-based report due on December 4.
★ Compared to last year, production of pulses and specialty crops is up 16%, rising from 6.568 to 7.611 million metric tonnes.
Declines in dry edible bean and mustard production have been offset by higher yields of lentils, peas, and chickpeas.
