Soybean area reduced in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra

New Delhi. The production area of ​​soybean, the main oilseed of Kharif season, has reduced considerably this time as compared to last year.

Under this, sowing has been done in less area in the three top producing states - Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.

At the national level, the production area of ​​soybean has decreased by 5.72 lakh hectares from 126.04 lakh hectares last year to 120.32 lakh hectares this time. Due to this, there is a possibility of a decline in production.

According to the available data, during the current Kharif season, compared to last year, soybean production area in Madhya Pradesh has slipped from 53.40 lakh hectares to 50.80 lakh hectares, in Maharashtra from 51.10 lakh hectares to 49.50 lakh hectares and in Rajasthan from 10.79 lakh hectares to 9.79 lakh hectares.

Earlier sowing was decreasing in Karnataka, but now it has reached 4.20 lakh hectares, which is equal to last year. In Telangana, the sowing area remained slightly behind last year.

Peanut sowing improved from 47.49 lakh hectares last year to 47.53 lakh hectares this time. Its area increased from 19.10 lakh hectares to 22.01 lakh hectares in Gujarat and from 8.59 lakh hectares to 9.78 lakh hectares in Rajasthan, but the area decreased in Karnataka, Maharashtra and some other states.
