Strong Domestic and Export Demand for Rice

Hyderabad. The prospect of a decline in production has led to a firming trend in rice prices. Wholesale market prices for Basmati paddy remain strong, as millers and exporters are showing keen interest in procurement. Similarly, in South India, prices for 'A' grade non-Basmati rice have risen, amid indications of a drop in production.

Demand for Indian rice remains robust in the global export market. Exports of common-variety coarse rice are performing well, driven by strong interest from traditional buyers across the African continent. Indian rice continues to be available at competitive prices compared to supplies from other nations.

The Gulf region, the Middle East, and West Asia are the primary destinations for Basmati rice imports. India also exports rice to various other countries, including those within the European Union and the United States.
