Sunflower Crop Update
Ukraine
★ Sunflower production is expected to rise by 1.5–2 million metric tonnes (MMT) due to an increase in planted area.
★ Processors remain cautious and are holding back purchases amid weak profit margins.
★ In 2023, sunflower was Ukraine’s most profitable crop, with a margin of 106%.
★ Overall grain and oilseed harvests have declined — grain production is down 10% to 51 MMT (510 lakh tonnes), and oilseeds are down 5% to 20.16 MMT (201.6 lakh tonnes), including 11.5 MMT (115 lakh tonnes) of sunflower.

Russia
★ Sunflower planting targets have been exceeded in 50% of districts.
★ In 2024, the planted area has reached 11.4 million hectares (114 lakh ha), up by 941,000 hectares from last year.
★ Sunflower production in 2024 is forecast to reach 33 MMT (330 lakh tonnes).

Russian Sunflower Oil Export Duty Cut from July
Sunflower Oil
★ The export duty for sunflower oil has been reduced from 7,120 RUB ($91) to 4,739 RUB ($60) per metric tonne in July.
★ The revision is based on a reference price of $1,136.6 per tonne.

Sunflower Meal
★ The export duty has been lowered to 1,054 RUB ($13) per tonne, down from 1,244 RUB ($16) last month.
★ The price of sunflower meal has slightly increased to $221.3 per tonne.
