The Central Government has set a target of production of 34 crore tonnes of food grains and other crops for the 2024-25 season.

The Union Agriculture Ministry has announced a total of 34 crore tonnes of food grains (including pulses), 44750 lakh tonnes of oilseeds, 350 lakh bales (each bale of 170 kg) of cotton and 105 lakh bales of (each bale) for the entire season (Kharif + Rabi + Zaid) of 2024-25. The target of production of jute and mesta (each bale of 180 kg) has been set.
The target of food grains set by the Ministry is 1599.70 lakh tonnes for Kharif season, 1640 lakh tonnes for Rabi season and Zaid (summer) oilseeds and some coarse grains are produced in all three seasons.
The Agriculture Ministry has set a target of production of 1363 lakh tonnes of rice, 1150 lakh tonnes of wheat, 388.50 lakh tonnes of maize and 22.50 lakh tonnes of barley for the 2024-25 season.
Apart from this, a target of production of 181 lakh tonnes of grains (jowar, millet, ragi etc.) and 299 lakh tonnes of pulses has also been set.
The target of production of grain has been fixed at 143.70 lakh tonnes in Kharif season, 26 lakh tonnes in Rabi season and 11.30 lakh tonnes in summer (Zaid) season.
In this way, the total production target of coarse grains has been set at 592 lakh tonnes which includes coarse grains of all other varieties.
In the category of pulse crops, the Agriculture Ministry has set a target of production of 45 lakh tonnes of tur (tur), 30.50 lakh tonnes of urad, 42.50 lakh tonnes of moong, 136.50 lakh tonnes of gram and 16.50 lakh tonnes of lentils.
The production target of Kharif pulses crops has been set at 95 lakh tonnes, Rabi pulses at 181.50 lakh tonnes and summer pulses at 22.50 lakh tonnes.
As far as oilseed crops are concerned, a total production target of 447.50 lakh tonnes has been set, including 138 lakh tonnes of mustard, 106.50 lakh tonnes of groundnut and 158 lakh tonnes of soybean.
The production target of oilseeds has been fixed at 283.70 lakh tonnes for Kharif season, 150.30 lakh tonnes for Rabi season and 13.50 lakh tonnes for Zaid season. Sowing of Kharif crops is going to start soon.
