★ As seen from the above data, tur prices have declined by around 40% over the past year.
★ The main reasons for this decline are increased imports and higher domestic production.
★ Tur Lemon prices in Mumbai and Chennai, which were Rs. 11,300/quintal on 02.07.2024, have dropped to Rs. 6,300/quintal as of 02.07.2025.
★ Burmese tur, which was priced at $1,435/ton a year ago, has now fallen to $725/ton.
★ Another major factor is the weakened demand for pulses during the summer season.
★ Demand for pulses generally rises after summer ends, leading into the festive season.
★ Ahead of the arrival of African tur from September, Myanmar is offering lower prices to remain competitive.
★ IGrain India believes that upcoming festive demand may provide support to tur prices.
★ The current low prices may also impact ongoing sowing activities during this season.
