Turmeric Markets Witness Sharp Rally
★ This week saw a strong uptrend in prices, with futures markets closing higher each day.
★ Export demand has surged significantly.
★ Turmeric exports rose 13% between April and December.
★ December alone recorded a 47% increase in exports. This year's new crop output is expected to be 10–15% lower than last year.
★ Crop diseases reported in Nanded; rainfall has also affected crops in some areas.
★ Sowing increased by 10% compared to last year, reaching 3.3 lakh hectares. Production is estimated at 1.075 million tonnes.
★ As arrivals increase in mandis, prices may see some correction, but the overall outlook for turmeric remains firm.
