It is noteworthy that Ukraine is considered a leading exporter of maize in the world. Apart from this, it also ranks at the top in the production and export of sunflower. Other crops including rapeseed are also cultivated there.
Wheat, maize, barley, sunflower, peas and rapeseed etc. are exported on a large scale from Ukraine and the member countries of the European Union are its major buyers.
India imports a good amount of sunflower oil from Ukraine, while sometimes maize is also imported under the tariff rate quota system.
