US Pulses Production Estimate: USDA
Kabuli Chickpeas – Third Largest Crop
★ Chickpea production in the United States is estimated at 313,000 metric tons this year, 32% higher than in 2024.
★ Large-caliber chickpeas saw a sharp rise of 41% to 255,000 MT, while small-caliber chickpeas rose only 9% to about 83,000 MT.

Lentils – 23% Surge
★ According to USDA, U.S. lentil production is expected to rise 23% over last year to 516,000 MT.
★ The planted area is estimated at 1.07 million acres, up 6% from the previous forecast and 15% higher than last year.

Peas
★ Combined production of green and yellow peas is expected to climb from 774,600 MT to 954,300 MT.
★ The planted area stood at 1.18 million acres, up 10% from the previous forecast and 21% higher than last year.
★ In the 2025 season, not only the U.S. but also countries like Canada, Australia, Myanmar, Africa, Russia, and Argentina are expected to report higher pulses production.
★ Global availability of lentils, peas, chickpeas, pigeon peas (tur), and black gram (urad) is projected to be strong.
