Coriander prices rise: Prices will remain strong for now
New Delhi. Coriander prices remained on the rise during the current week. Looking at the current situation, there is no possibility of recession right now. Because most of the total production has come to the mandis, due to which the stock with the farmers is less, due to which the daily arrival in the mandis has decreased. Trade sources believe that about 70/75 percent of the total production has already come to the mandis, while 20/25 percent of the goods are with the farmers, which will come to the market when the prices increase. Because there is still about 6 months left for the new crop to arrive. Due to weak sowing, the production of coriander in the country during the current season is estimated to be about 1 crore bags, whereas last year the production was 1.10 crore bags.
Inflow started decreasing
Gradually the arrival of coriander in the mandis has started decreasing. Currently, 4/5 thousand sacks are arriving in Gondal, the main mandi of Gujarat. Whereas, 3000/3500 sacks are arriving in Ramganj mandi of Rajasthan. 1000/1200 sacks are arriving in Baran mandi and 400/500 sacks are arriving in Kota. Apart from this, 1000/1200 sacks are arriving in Kumbhraj mandi of Madhya Pradesh and 3000/3500 sacks are arriving in Guna. It is worth mentioning that during the current season, coriander production in the major producing state Madhya Pradesh is estimated to be 46/48 lakh sacks and production in Gujarat is 40/42 lakh sacks. Apart from this, coriander production in Rajasthan was estimated to be 14/15 lakh sacks.
No slowdown yet
Informed sources say that there is no possibility of slowdown in prices in the near future. Because apart from increasing export demand, local demand is also improving. Apart from this, prices are also being quoted at a high level in the futures market. Sources believe that futures traders are trying to sell September at high prices, due to which the market is likely to remain bullish. According to the information received, at the beginning of the current week, coriander for the month of September opened at Rs 7810 in the futures, which closed at Rs 8510 at the end of the week. Apart from this, coriander for the month of October opened at Rs 7900 and closed at Rs 8550. Due to weak arrival and strong news of futures, spot prices of coriander have been quoted at Rs 250/300 per quintal higher at the mandis of producing centers during the current week. Demand and availability During the current season, the availability of coriander will be less as compared to consumption. Sources say that at the time of new crop, coriander stock at the mandis of producing centers was considered to be 35/40 lakh bags, while the new production was about 1 crore. Due to which the total availability will be 1.35/1.40 crore bags. Whereas the availability of about 1.50/1.60 crore bags is made by combining demand and export. It is noteworthy that due to the decrease in production in the country in the second year also, the stock of coriander will be very less in the coming season.
Export
However, a good decline was registered in coriander exports during the year 2024-25. But in the first three months of the current season year 2025-26, the export of coriander has increased by 14 percent. According to the data released by the Spices Board, during April-June-2025, coriander was exported for 19100.51 tonnes and the income received from export was Rs 191.57 crore.
