Strength in cumin prices: Prices will increase
New Delhi. Cumin prices remained strong during the current week. Sources say that apart from the decrease in arrivals in the markets, there is also an improvement in the buying of exporters. Due to which the futures and spot markets are being quoted strongly. Traders believe that due to the decrease in prices, further slowdown in prices is not possible now. Cumin prices will continue to rise gradually in the coming days. Because in the international market, the supply of cumin from China, Turkey and Iran will start decreasing in the coming days. Due to which trade estimates are being made that the export of Indian cumin will be good in the coming days.
There are reports of decrease in cumin production not only in the country but also abroad this year. According to the information received, cumin production in China was earlier believed to be around 1 lakh tonnes, which due to adverse weather, there are reports of 70/80 thousand tonnes of production at present. Apart from this, production in Syria is estimated to be 9/10 thousand tons and Turkey 10/11 thousand tons. Production in Afghanistan is believed to be 10/12 thousand tons. During the current season, cumin production in the country was also less than last year. Last year, cumin production in the country was about 1.10 crore bags, which is believed to be 90/92 lakh bags this year.
Arrival
Due to most of the total production coming to the markets, the daily arrival of cumin in the markets has started decreasing. Arrival in the main market Unjha has remained at 5/6 thousand bags. Whereas 500/600 bags are arriving in Rajkot and Gondal. Arrival is also less in other markets. Sources say that currently the daily arrival of cumin in the markets of Gujarat is 9/10 thousand bags. Apart from this, the total daily arrival in Rajasthan's mandis is 5500/6000 bags. In Rajasthan's major mandis Medta and Nagaur, the arrival is 1000/1200 bags.
Export price
Due to buying by exporters during the current week, export price has registered a rise of about Rs 100 per 20 kg. It is worth mentioning that at the beginning of the current week, the export price was running at Rs 3750 per 20 kg, which is being quoted at Rs 3850 at the end of the week. The price is likely to increase further.
Slow or high
Traders say that there is no possibility of a slowdown in the current prices of cumin. In the coming days, the prices of cumin will keep increasing gradually. It is being estimated that during the month of August, the prices of cumin may rise by Rs 5/7 per kg. And the export price may cross the level of Rs 4000. Prices will remain strong in the spot markets as well. Traders say that if the prices of cumin do not increase, then there may be a decline in the cumin sowing area at the production centers for the coming season as well.
