Lentil prices fall due to sluggish buying
Mumbai. The trend of decline in lentil prices has continued during the current week. Lentil prices are not getting support due to increased selling pressure from stockists and sluggish demand at the consumer level. According to traders, the demand for lentil dal has remained weak continuously, due to which the buying by dal millers has also slowed down. Due to this, instead of increasing, lentil prices have come under more pressure. Due to increased selling by importers and sluggish buying, imported lentil prices saw a decline of Rs 50 per quintal this week and over the weekend the price remained at Mundra Rs 5950, Hazira Rs 6000 and container Canada Rs 6150/6200 and Australia Rs 6150/6200 per quintal. Similarly, prices of Kolkata lentil also witnessed a fall of Rs. 75 per quintal this week and the prices remained at Canada 6075 rupees and Australia 6175 rupees per quintal at the end of the week.
Delhi
Due to slow buying by dal millers and stockists, prices of Delhi lentil witnessed a fall of Rs. 100/150 per quintal this week and with this fall, the prices remained at Choti Kota 6700 rupees, Bundi 6900 rupees, Uttar Pradesh 7000 rupees and Desi Badi 6700/6725 rupees per quintal at the end of the week.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to slow buying by stockists and dal millers, prices of masoor in Madhya Pradesh registered a decline of Rs. 100/200 per quintal this week too and with this decline the prices at the weekend remained at Ashoknagar Rs. 6100/6200, Bina Rs. 6100/6250, Sagar Rs. 6000/6300, Damoh Rs. 6150/6625, Indore Rs. 6250/6300, Kareli Rs. 4850/6500 and Katni Rs. 6600 per quintal. Due to increase in selling and slow buying, during the current week, the prices of lentils in Uttar Pradesh witnessed a decline of Rs 50/100 per quintal and the prices remained at Bareilly Chhoti Rs 6700/7000, Moti Rs 6700/6750, Kanpur Rs 6550/6575, Lalitpur Moti Rs 6200/6300, Chhoti Rs 6500/6600 and Orai Rs 5800/6060 per quintal.
Others
Due to the impact of all-round decline and lack of demand, Bihar lentil prices witnessed a decline of Rs 100 per quintal this week and the prices remained at Barh Rs 6500, Khusrupur Rs 6400 and Mokama Rs 6500 per quintal during the weekend. Similarly, the prices of Raipur lentils also declined by Rs 50 per quintal this week and remained at Rs 6275/6300 per quintal at the weekend.
Masoor Dal
Due to weak demand, prices of Masoor Dal witnessed a fall of Rs. 50/100 per quintal during the current week and the prices remained at Rs. 7350/7500 in Indore, Rs. 7400/7700 in Barh and Rs. 7300/7600 per quintal in Khusrupur at the weekend.
