Lentil buying weak due to lack of buyers
Mumbai. Due to increased selling and sluggish buyers, lentil prices declined during the current week. Due to almost no buying of lentil dal, buying of lentil by dal millers remained limited. Due to which there is pressure on lentil prices. Decline in green lentil prices in Canada, red lentil prices also decreased, new crop harvesting has started, exporters are waiting for good goods. According to Canada Grain Commission, terminal and licensed bulk loading of 1.23 lakh tonnes was done in July. Harvesting of lentil has started in Canada as well as North America. Trading of red lentil is going on at 28-29 cents/pound, 2 large green lentils at 46-47 cents, 1 small green lentil at 42-44 cents/pound. As the harvesting increases, pressure may build on lentil prices. Due to increased selling by transporters and sluggish buying, Mumbai lentil prices witnessed a fall of Rs. 75/100 per quintal last week and with this fall, the prices remained at Rs. 5750 for Mundra, Rs. 5775 for Hazira and Rs. 6000/6100 per quintal for container at the weekend. While no increase or decrease was seen in the prices of Kolkata lentil this week and the prices remained at Rs. 6050/6100 per quintal at the weekend.
Delhi
Due to sluggish demand from dal millers, Delhi lentil prices witnessed a fall of Rs. 25/50 per quintal last week and with this fall, the prices remained at Rs. 6450 for Choti Kota, Rs. 6850 for Bundi, Rs. 6900 for Uttar Pradesh and Rs. 6550 for Desi Badi at the weekend.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to increased selling and weak buying, prices of lentils in Madhya Pradesh witnessed a fall of Rs. 50 per quintal during the last week and the prices at the weekend were Ashoknagar Rs. 5900/6000, Ganjbasoda Rs. 5600/6000, Sagar Rs. 5600/6000, Damoh Rs. 5800/6350, Indore Rs. 61500 and Katni Rs. 6525 per quintal.
Uttar Pradesh
Due to sluggish buying and selling, prices of lentils in Uttar Pradesh witnessed a rise and fall of Rs. 25/50 per quintal during the last week and the prices at the weekend were Bareilly small Rs. 7000/7050, thick Rs. 6650, Kanpur Rs. 6550 and Lalitpur thick Rs. 5900/50, small Rs. 6200/6250 per quintal.
Others
Due to sluggish demand, no rise or fall was seen in the prices of Bihar lentils during the last week and the prices remained stable at Rs. 6600, Rs. 6500 for Barh, Rs. 6500 for Khusrupur and Rs. 6600 per quintal for Mokama at the weekend. Similarly, Raipur lentils also did not see any rise or fall last week and the prices remained stable at Rs. 6300 per quintal at the weekend.
Lentil lentils
Due to sluggish demand, no movement was seen in the prices of lentils last week and the prices remained stable at Rs. 7650 for Jalgaon, Rs. 7500/7650 for Indore, Rs. 7600/7900 for Barh and Rs. 7500/7800 per quintal at Khusrupur.
